the days of wet summers are behind us/ fall nestles slickly onto my doorstep/ hot pavement and warm pools are replaced/ here comes muggy walks and cloudy mornings i forget
i slip and i stumble right into the puddles/ the ends of my hair drip into my purse/ the ink on the pages i write are smeared/ here comes the autumnal curse
hunched backs and flippant shoes fill the office/ mugs of liquid caffeine steam on each desk/ the lips of history students gulp down long, hot streams/ the dredges of my cup stare back in grotesque
the stubs of my fingers pound this keyboard/ just to showcase everything i don’t know/ paper cuts and ink stains littered on my hands/ they beg and they plead to see some snow
